Many of my Saint Louis friends have asked me to keep them posted on my experiences as a Fulbright Fellow teaching at Yonsei University in Seoul. This blog is a response to those requests. I returned to Saint Louis on July 5, 2009; however, I'll continue to add photos to the Blog until I run out of photos or time.

Danny with two friends visiting from Japan. (Hiroko, on my right, is the Dean of the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine).

A pagoda erected next to City Hall in honor of Buddha's birthday (May 2nd).

Traditional Korean wedding costumes.

There are always lots of things happening at Yonsei.

The campus is covered with flowers this time of year.

Danny with Kyong-mee Chung, the Chair of the Yonsei Psychology Department. Kyong-mee received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hawaii (some years after me)

I attended dinner with some of my Korean friends after my Hanyang University talk.

The wedding party I attended in Osan.

I gave a lecture last week at Hanyang University, considered the "MIT of Korea."

My son outside the movie theater at Ewha University.

The grounds across from the Psychology Labs (where my office is located).

This particular tree blooms in multiple colors.

A Japanese restaurant near the City Hall subway stop.
Sculpture near City Hall.
Yonsei prides itself on being the oldest university in Korea. It is one of the "SKY Schools" (i.e., Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University)
The heart of the university district in Sinchon.

Danny and his wonderful son Joshua.

My subway stop--right in the center of Seoul!

Danny visited Changdeokgung Palace on Easter Sunday--along with lots of other people.

A biology experiment at Yonsei--different branches have different color blossoms.

The campus is especially beautiful this time of year.

Yeouido Yunjungno Cherry Blossom Festival

The biggest cherry blossom celebration in Seoul, this year’s festival is scheduled for April 8-15. Yeoudio Park offers good picnicking spots, but expect it to be crowded, especially on the weekend. The Yunjung Road behind the National Assembly building is lined for almost four miles with trees, some which are 30 to 40 years old. In the evening the street is illuminated, and at night the city launches fireworks to celebrate spring. Face painting, food vendors, folk music, caricature artists, Taekwondo performances and other musical performances fill out the fun.

It's spring in Seoul, and the campus is beautiful.

SooJin Lee is married to Dr. Han Chae who sponsored by talk at Pusan National University. SooJin was a student last semester in my Health Psychology course.

Nam Nguyen is my Teaching Assistant for the Spring semester. Nam is Vietnamese-Canadian and speaks English, French, Vietnamese and Korean. He's a smart guy who will probably transfer to McGill to work on his PhD in cognitive psychology.

One of the wonderful Japanese restaurants a few blocks from Danny's hotel. Danny has become fascinated with noodles, and the many ways in which they can be prepared and served.
There is tremendous rivalry between Yonsei University (blue) and Korea University (red).

A Korean music festival.

This is how Danny spends much of his time--giving lectures on one topic or another.

There are literally hundreds of restaurants and DVD "Bangs" near Sinchon, the subway stop closest to Yonsei University.
